John has a long history of computing starting with the original Apple II+, learning BASIC programming. Experience with FoxPro landed him in the corporate world with many experiences in the software development life cycle, as well as server administration on Windows (with a little HPUX on the side). Having missed the whole internet "birth" during those years, he decided to go cold turkey and learn the Web. After discovering the Open Source community and the Drupal CMS (thanks Ryan and Darren!), he knew he had found his new "home". He loves the immediacy of being able to get things done without waiting for the next update from Redmond. WIth his database background, MySQL and Views were easy to grasp, and PHP is just another syntax to learn. He will be diving head first into the front end technologies with Drupal 7 to complete his full transformation to web developer.
His favorite saying about Drupal, "come for the software, stay for the community" is more than true! And the contacts through Drupal and the worldwide OSS community are amazing.
